| RW15RC 1948 Bufflehead, Boston Light, aptly dubbed the "ideal American lighthouse" by the historian Edward Rowe Snow, holds a place of honor among our nation's beacons. This was the first light station established on the North American continent, and the last in the United States to be automated. It's also our only light station that still retains an official keeper. Because Boston Light was destroyed in the Revolution and rebuilt in 1783, the tower itself is the second oldest in the U.S. New Jersey's Sandy Hook Light, built in 1764, is the oldest lighthouse tower. | RW42RT 1975 Decoy/Canvasback, James Fisher was the first federal artist to add a remarque to his stamp. Fisher died in 1990, before the explosion in collecting remarques. This tribute remarque by Ken Michaelsen brings out the best of the canvasback -- his bright red head, proud posture and finely detailed body. This was Fisher's first and only entry in the annual Federal Duck Stamp Contest, the only federal stamp to prominently feature a decoy. Note that Michaelsen has printed "A Tribute to: James L. Fisher" on the selvage of the stamp, but Fisher's middle initial is actually "P." VF NH

| RW67R 2000 Mottled Duck, The Key West Lighthouse is pictured in this remarque by Adam Grimm. The lighthouse is at Whitehead’s Point, the southernmost point on Key West, and is a fitting match for the mottled duck on the stamp. Mottled ducks are a non-migratory resident of the Gulf Coast region. A close relative of both the mallard and the black duck, the species also embraces the bird once known as the Florida duck. Grimm won the contest at 21, while still a college student, making him the youngest federal duck stamp artist ever. Stamp is signed by the artist in the selvage. VF NH.
